A defiantly feel-good show which sticks two fingers up to everything the media tells us we should look like is kicking off its Midlands tour at Derby Theatre Studio.
It’s a new year; time to set those turn-of-the-calendar resolutions – cutting carbs, hitting it hard at the gym and shaving everything from the chin down to prepare for that summer body, coercing us all into thinking about how awful our bodies are.
We’ve been shamed, dehumanised and humiliated for how we look, and we’ve had enough.
Beach Body Ready sees The Roaring Girls smash their way through ingrained fears, food insecurities, and toxic advertising as they blend impassioned rants with cheesy fitness routines and, informal chats. The show features a beach trip on screen, accompanied by a banging soundtrack.
Following a run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019, Beach Body Ready will tour eight venues in the Midlands including Derby Theatre Studio on (Saturday, April 18, Mansfield Old Library (Thursday, May 21), Brewhouse Arts Centre, Burton upon Trent (Thursday, June 11), and Nonsuch Studios, Nottingham (Saturday June13).
