The winner of the 2019 Buxton Spa Prize is Cheshire artist Simon Roderick with his painting From The Slopes, pictured above.
He was presented with his £4,000 prize at the launch of The Buxton Spa Prize exhibition by Trevor Osborne, of The Trevor Osborne Property Group and the prize sponsor, at the Green Man Gallery in the town last night.
The second prize of £1,000 was won by Brian Smith, with his painting Scriveners On The High Street and the third prize of £500 went to Alex Kelly with Ghosts at Night, a painting of the Buxton Opera House after dark.
Three highly commended prizes went to Andrea Joseph, Nick Brookes and Nick Grove.
The coveted Sketchbook Prize of £750 was won by Sue Lewis-Blake, the Teen Prize by Emily Henshaw and the Children’s Prize by Verity Dawson.
The exhibition, which includes all the entries, will run from today until July 31 and the gallery at Hardwick Square South, will be open from 10.30am-5.30pm.
