Rolls-Royce is offering 300 free tickets for people living in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Derby to enjoy the Darley Park outdoor classical music concert in September.
This will be the third year that tickets have been sold for the concert and Rolls-Royce wants to ensure that people from all communities still have the chance to enjoy the event.
The company will be offering tickets through Sinfonia Viva’s involvement in This is Derby – the arts and cultural partnership programme with young people from vulnerable groups, including those eligible for free school meals, in alternative education or in care as well as young carers and children and young people with special education needs and disabilities.
Meanwhile the sponsors of the Hannells Darley Park Concert, Huub, Flint Bishop, Mobile Solution (UK) Ltd, the Mortgage Bureau, Stratstone BMW, WDS Ltd and, of course , Hannells have announced they will be donating 10p for each ticket sold for the concert to the homeless charities, The Padley Centre and Derventio Housing Trust.
Michael Brain, Managing Director of Hannells, said: “whilst our sponsorship of the concert has enabled the City Council to continue to provide the concert at a very affordable ticket price, we felt that we also wanted to do something to help the most disadvantaged in society. That is why, in addition to our sponsorship of the concert we will also, separately, donate 10p to charity for each ticket sold for the concert.”
Dean Jackson of Huub, said: “By buying a ticket, not only do the people know they are getting access to a superb concert and fireworks display in the wonderful setting of Darley Park, but also that the purchase will trigger the sponsor’s payment to the local charities.”
The concert, will take place at Darley Park on Sunday September 1 from 6pm, with gates open from 2pm.
Tickets are available for £3.50 when bought by July 31, with under 16s free with a ticket. They can be bought from 01332 255800, online at http://www.derbylive.co.uk
