This weekend Buxton Drama League return to the Pavilion Arts Centre with Alan Ayckbourn’s hilarious comedy, Bedroom Farce.
The play is set in three bedrooms over one night, where the relationships of four couples are played out hilariously.
It’s the night of Malcolm and Kate’s party. Jan and Nick are invited, but Nick has hurt his back and taken to his bed, leaving Jan to go to the party on her own, where she is drawn together with her ex-boyfriend Trevor. Trevor’s depressed wife Susannah seeks refuge with Trevor’s parents, Delia and Ernest, leading to a night of comic confusion, infidelity, DIY and pilchards!
As always with the comic master Alan Ayckbourn, middle-class relationships and the habits and weaknesses of the characters are skewered in the most savagely hilarious ways.
Buxton Drama League are recreating the feel of the 1970s in this comedy classic, returning to the world of Alan Ayckbourn for the first time since their critically acclaimed production of Season’s Greetingsin 2016.
Bedroom Farceis performed at the Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton on Friday 10 May 10 at 7.30pm and Saturday May 11 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £15 and £13 from the Buxton Opera House Box Office on 01298 72190 or http://www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
