Tourism award for Ferrers Gallery

Ferrers Gallery has been awarded a Commendation for Best Shopping Experience in the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards.

The independently run gallery which houses three floors of British made craftsmanship at Staunton Harold near Ashby de la Zouch was a finalist in the awards up against regional town centres.

“Being the only shop to be a finalist was an achievement in its own right, so we were delighted to receive a Commendation,” said Rachael Chambers, pictured above.

Rachael, who has been owner of Ferrers Gallery for the last 16 years, says this was the first time Ferrers have entered these awards.

“In previous years there hasn’t really been a category for us to apply for, but this year they have introduced the new category of Best Shopping Experience, acknowledging that shopping plays a large part of people’s enjoyment of days out and holidays.

“We get a lot of visitors from around the UK and indeed the World, they like the fact that everything we have is handmade in Britain,” she explained.

Ferrers Gallery is currently full of gift ideas for Christmas in its ‘The Art of Giving’ exhibition, one of five exhibitions that run throughout the year.

The gallery is also part of the Ferrers Centre for Arts and Crafts so you can browse through the shops and workshops onsite too.

If you fancy a visit to this award winning gallery it is open 11-4pm Tuesday to Sunday. It will also be open on Christmas Eve 10am-2pm. Re-opening in the New Year on  January 3.
