Sophie’s Journey was the name given by 12-yea-old Sophie Robinson to her facebook community page, to document her two-year battle against Medulloblastoma.
Written as an aid to help children who may go through the same experience in the future. The page also became a focus for Sophie’s fundraising. By 2016 £50,000 in total had been raised towards Childhood Cancer Causes.
Sadly Sophie passed away at her home on January 2016. Sophie’s mother and fundraising partner Stacy Southwell registered Sophie’s Journey as an official charity with the mission to provide free holidays for children, teenagers and their families around the UK living with cancer, at its static van at Golden Sands Holiday Park in Mablethorpe.
Sophie’s Journey run by Sophie’s immediately family and friends, enjoyed a successful year in 2017 winning recognition at the Lincolnshire Heart of the Community Annual awards and is taking bookings for 2018 at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The charity is currently raising money towards a second static van, which will be fully compliant with DDA standards and adapted to suit the needs of all children going through cancer.
