Exhibition by John Shiels at Cromford

John Shiels will be staging his second exhibition of painting at the Cromford Mills Gallery from Saturday October 7 to Thursday October 12.

John has been painting full time for two years after having spent 30 years as a teacher of Art. His work is mainly landscapes of Derbyshire and seascapes of Cornwall, Wales and Northumberland.

“I like recording the ways that humanity has left its mark on the landscape and I like the way that nature always fights back and eventually wins,” said John.

John will be painting during the week of the exhibition and will be happy to talk to visitors about his work.

“I love to talk to the public about my paintings and try to explain the methods I use to create the visual sensations in my work,” he added.

All the work on display is for sale at affordable prices.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm at Sir Richard Arkwright’s Cromford Mill Gallery, Mill Lane, Cromford, DE4 3RQ Tel No 01029 823256.
