Glossop puts Art in the Window

More than 50 independent retailers in Glossop are taking part in Art in the Window 2017 transforming the streets into art galleries from the August 1-31.

Shop windows, restaurants and retailers will display work including photography, sculpture, fine art, textiles as well as painting and drawing.

It will prove to be an eclectic mix of amateur and professional art, including students’ work from Glossopdale Community College and Glossop Arts Project participants.

This year Glossop Arts Project – Arts for Wellbeing will be organising the exhibition and will exhibit work produced by the participants.

Many pieces will be for sale and there will be notices to accompany the displays with contact details.

Project spokesperson Sonja Quirk said: “We hope people will take the time to walk down the high street sample the fresh coffee, delicious food, individual gift ideas and the amazing art work on offer”.
