The Old Lock Up Gallery’s inaugural show – Ikigai – A Japanese concept meaning a reason for being opens on July 1.
The new gallery in Swifts Hollow, Cromford is being co-curated by Rachael Pinks who has been staging exhibitions there for the last few years and fellow artist Many Payne.
For this first show they will be exhibiting the work of Daisy Cook, Serena Smith, Susan Laughton and Ruth King. They are holding an opening day preview with tea and coffee from 1.30-4.30pm and drinks from 7-9.30pm.
“We are extremely excited about opening the gallery doors for the first time and showing the work of four talented and accomplished artists from across the UK,” said Rachael.
The show will continue until August 20 and they will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11-6pm.
They will also have a selection of some beautiful pieces of work by four established Artisans within the gallery: Lumsdale Glass, Amanda Graham – jeweller, Rebecca Lawley – silversmith and Roger Waterhouse – woodturner.
