Lara Croft celebration to be staged at QUAD

Cultural icon and Derby born and bred, Lara Croft will be celebrated at QUAD in Derby in October with a special 20th Anniversary Celebration event.

The Lara Croft 20th Anniversary Celebration event offers an opportunity to play through the entire catalogue of Tomb Raider games, which were developed in Derby by Core Design and now owned by the California-based Crystal Dynamics.

There will also be a wide range of Derby based memorabilia with 20 years of gaming history as well as conversations with special guests throughout the day. The Lara Croft 20th Anniversary Celebration event takes place in QUAD on  October 22 from 11am to 4pm. It is a free drop in event suitable for all ages, those aged under 12 years must be accompanied.

Also screening as part of the event, Lethal and Loaded is a documentary from 2001 following the rise and success of Derby’s Core Designs game character Lara Croft.

Following the film there will be a Q&A with Core developers, including special guests Judith Gibbins: the Voice of Lara Croft, Tomb Raider 2&3, Iain Simons: Game City/National Videogame Arcade (Nottingham) and Alex Davis: Core Designs / Developer for Angel of Darkness. Lara Croft Lethal and Loaded + Q&A (Advised 15 certificate) takes place in QUAD on Saturday October 22 at 6pm.
