Kickstarter campaign launched to fund children’s album

Handmade shirts, the chance to appear in a music video, and even having your very own song written for you are just some of the rewards up for grabs as Belper’s David Gibb launches a Kickstarter campaign to record his second album for families and children.

The album, which is set to be entitled Climb That Tree, will feature a range of music from across the world from reggae to cajun, and from folk to good old rock’n’roll.

Climb That Tree is the follow up to his critically acclaimed first release Letters Through Your Door (2013) and will follow the same model of high quality, upbeat and engaging music for children and families which parents can enjoy too.

There’s a huge range of rewards on offer for pledging towards the album, including having your name appear in the album sleeve and even the chance to join Gibb in the studio and sing on the recording! Rewards start from as little as £6 and all include a CD or digital download of the finished album to enjoy.

The announcement comes just as Gibb hits the road for a busy autumn tour with concerts taking place at venues including Brewery Arts Centre (Kendal), The Mill Arts Centre (Banbury) and and The Witham (Durham).

Whether you’re a music fanatic or simply looking for a way to make those long family car journeys seem that little bit shorter, you won’t want to miss the chance to get behind this exciting new album.

The award-winning song writer, story teller and tallest man in Derbyshire (he claims) is on a mission to create great music for children and families.

Frustrated at the lack of high quality music available for children, and inspired by the strong independent children’s music movement in America, he set himself the mission of writing an album of songs aimed at families, with quality and musicianship and song writing being the focus.

The result was Letters Through Your Door, a fun and exciting album and stage show packed full of catchy and toe tapping numbers.

The first album features original songs as well drawing on traditional children’s song from across the world.

This sublime mix is complemented by guest appearances from some of the biggest names on the British folk scene including Bella Hardy, Lucy Ward, Jez Lowe and Nancy Kerr.

The themes range from the everyday to the the surreal, but whether it’s finding a dragon in your bedroom, dreaming about swimming in the sea, or simply waiting for the postman to arrive, there’s something here for everyone.
