Wirksworth Festival’s main exhibition this September is being curated by two artists from the town Geoff Diego Litherland and Dermot Punnett,
It is entitled Nature: Here and Now and looks at how artists challenge their own perceptions to create new ways of seeing and comprehending the natural world around us.
The exhibition will include a number of internationally renowned artists such as Mariele Neudecker and Peter Matthews.
In the 13th century St. Mary’s Church there will be an installation by Wolfgang Buttress, the Nottingham artist who was selected to represent the UK at the Milan Expo in 2015 (pictured above).
The sculpture he created for the Expo – The Hive is themed around the lifecycle of a bee and the contribution of bees to the planet’s health. It was due to be open to the public in Kew Gardens from June 18.
