Crescendo stage charity choir concert

Cresc3Crescendo Community Choir will be performing at a concert for local charities on October 30.

Following on from two past successful charity concerts, Crescendo want to raise as much needed money as they can for Derby charities Annabel’s Angels and Making Space (Derby City Dementia Services).

Kev Jackson, choir leader, said: “Crescendo is a fantastic community choir of ladies who have joined because they want to sing. We all enjoy singing so much, we wanted to put our enthusiasm to good use and a concert is a fantastic way to focus our rehearsals and raise funds for local Derby based charities that make a difference to people.”

They will be singing a wide variety of songs from James Bond to Glenn Miller and from the 60s to the present day so the concert will have a song for everyone.

It will start at 7pm and is being staged at the Ashbourne Road Methodist/URC Church, 94 Ashbourne Road, Derby.

Annabel’s Angels is a local charitable trust raising funds and increasing support for patients, carers and families living with cancer in Derby. Run solely by volunteers and from funds raised by them, they use the donations to help reach people with cancer and help them improve their quality of life by giving grants.

Simon Hancox, Chairperson, said: “Annabel’s Angels is thrilled to have been chosen as one of two charities to benefit from Crescendo Community Choir’s charity concert. We rely solely on public donations to enable us to offer support through our grants programme to those members of the public who are living with cancer in Derby.

“This fundraiser will really make a difference to some of the families we are currently working with. The team is really looking forward to hearing the ladies sing on the night. And who knows, we may even sing a song or two too – if we’re allowed! A huge thank you to all at Crescendo for thinking of us.”

Making Space provides support to Derby City residents, helping them through the dementia care pathway via support, information and activities and sessions. Honor Simpson, team leader at Making Space is thrilled that the choir have chosen this important local charity to support.

Tickets are £5 and are available from Linda on 07902 117503 or by emailing All proceeds will go towards the two charities.
