Don’t miss the free Darley Park Concert

Classic_Nicholas Owen_hi_res_cutClassic FM’s Saturday lunchtime presenter Nicholas Owen will be introducing an audience of more than 30,000 people to the free Darley Park Concert on September 6.

East Midlands orchestra Sinfonia Viva will perform a programme based on the theme of couples.

The concert will open with Glinka’s mystical Russian and Ludmilla Overture followed by pieces inspired by Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet, including Prokofiev’s Montagues and Capulets – well-known as the theme tune to the television series The Apprentice – and Bernstein’s Tonight from West Side Story.

Listeners will be taken on a journey with a cinematic twist that embraces John Williams’ timeless film theme Superman before enjoying Freddie Mercury and Mike Moran’s 1987 modern classic Barcelona.

Other works include a selection from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance and Puccini’s La Bohème,

The show starts at 6pm.
