At the end of July, Derbybased Oddsocks Productions presented their musical production of Shakespeare’s raucous comedy Twelfth Night.
Over 580 people attended the three performances in the transformed walled Craft Village at the heart of Markeaton Park to huge success, and nationally touring Oddsocks Productions have praised the events team at Derby LIVE.
Elli Mackenzie, Oddsocks co-founder and Producer said: “We have been touring nationally for 26 years and work with boroughs all over the UK and Channel Islands.
“We were so impressed with the response we had to the performances at Markeaton, but main thanks have to go to fantastic team at Derby LIVE for hosting these fantastic community events.”
The Markeaton Park revamp was made possible thanks to a Heritage Lottery Grant of £2.5 million as part of their £3.4m development project.
The project aims to transform this important and much loved historic park so that it can continue to provide an attractive, welcoming and well usedgreen space that can be enjoyed by current and future generations.
Elli continued: “When we first started working with local councils in the 1990s, most boroughs had arts development officers that were devoted to working with companies like us.
As cuts have hit, very few areas have them now, so it’s been wonderful to have our home-town council so supportive and attentive.
It’s a real celebration of local organisations working together to produce lasting memories for their local community.”
