The fourth such event in the city brings together a superb range of UK writing talent for a blend of panels, readings and workshops.
There will also be book sales as well as the annual Edge-Lit quiz and raffle.
The one-day festival is a chance to get an insight into the worlds of writing and publishing.
You will hear from some of the biggest and most talented names in the field and will be able to gain inspiration and ideas in the various workshop sessions.
The panel events and talks are being held in Cinema 2 and The Box and the day kicks off in the former at 10.30am with a panel discussion entitled Into the Grimdark: Is darker fantasy a trend or here to stay?
Joanna Harris, one of the UK’s most popular authors and writer of The Gospel of Loki, will be staging a reading and Q&A session there at 1.15pm, while at 4.15pm a panel headed by John Connolly – creator of the Charlie Parker series and co-author of Conquest and Empire will discuss whether Young Adult is the true future of science fiction and fantasy.
Other special guests who will be holding readings and Q&A sessions in The Box or joining in other panel discussions during the day are: MR Carey, author of The Girl with All the Gifts, popular comic book and screenwriter; Paul McAuley, the multiple award-winning British science fiction author of Something Coming Through; Claire North, author of Touch and The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August; and Samantha Shannon, international bestselling author of The Bone Season and The Mime Order.
There will be workshops throughout the day in The Green Room and The Digital Suite.
The Edge-Lit Quiz is at 8pm and the day ends with a special Room 101 session where writers will have the chance to consign their pet hates to the infamous room.
