Hewitson%2c%20Catriona%20-%20colour%20-%20Jan%202015For their spring concert the Derbyshire Singers will be performing English works spanning three centuries.

Two pieces for choir and brass by English composers – Bob Chilcott’s Jubilate and Jonathan Willcock’s Magnificat – combine wonderful harmonies with subtle changes of mood.

Featured alongside them will be the majestic Funeral Sentences by Purcell.  The concert will open with I was Glad by Parry.  For this concert they will be joined by ten-piece ensemble Harlequin Brass, who in addition to accompanying the Singers will also entertain with pieces of their own.  Completing the line-up will be rising star soprano Catriona Hewitson, above.

The concert will take place at Highfields School, Matlock at 7.30pm on March 21.

Tickets are available at £15 from Natural Choice, Ashbourne (01335 346096), or online at http://www.derbyshiresingers.org
