Derby Festé kicks off on Friday, September 26, with the fantastic Spark! by Worldbeaters Music.
Combining high-impact drumming, dynamic choreography and beautiful lights, this show builds in intensity as seven characters move through and interact with the crowd, culminating in a huge climax of light, sound, smoke and movement.
They will lead the audience to the Market Place for a dynamic retelling of Faust by Southpaw Dance Company.
In this re-imagining drinking, gambling, womanising, and general debauchery make the Speakeasy a perfect place for a man to lose his soul.
Faust is manipulated, to both comic and tragic effect, into a deal with the devil where his very soul hangs in the balance.
Flaming cocktails, burning boxing rings, and a literally explosive set combine with world class dance skills and authentic 20s styling to provide an experience not to be missed.
Friday will culminate with a set from Deep House DJ Da Sunlounge on the Market Place.
On Saturday the streets of Derby will come to life from noon with entertainment for the whole family including live music, circus performers, and headphone dancing.
Later on the action shifts to the Bass Recreation Ground for Voalá’s stunning Muaré, a mesmerising fusion of lights, live rock and aerial acrobatics by the sensational Spanish visual arts and dance company (pictured).
Muaré is sure to entertain and amaze all ages and will generate intense emotions through images and powerful, original live music.
This will be followed in the Market Place by DJ Woody’s brilliant Hip Hop is 40, an audio video history of the culture which grew from the original block parties to become a global phenomenon.
The performance of Muaré will be priced at £5 (advance), with family tickets available at £15.
All other events and performances will be free. Go to http://www.derbyfeste.com for details.
