Spring season at Buxton Opera House

Basil_Manuel_5528_10-credit%20Ron%20RuttenBuxton Opera House has unveiled its new spring season which is packed full of entertainment with drama, comedy, ballet, opera, films, music and modern dance.

February will see the return of Buxton Opera House’s annual Four Four Time Festival of Live Music (running from Saturday 15 to Saturday 22 February). The event will include performances from a host of well-known names from Kiki Dee, Toploader, Brian May and Kerry Ellis, Brand New Heavies and The South to name but a few.

Other music events during the new season include the renowned Bootleg Beatles, Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers; Blake Live in Concert and The 7th Buxton Soul Night is returning for more back-drops and spinning.

There are lots of shows for families to enjoy together from Postman Pat, the Moscow State Circus and Dotty The Dragon to The Sooty Show, The Jungle Book and The Gruffalo. Comedy is hot on the agenda with belly laughing encouraged from a host of comedians: Shappi Khorsandi, Mark Thomas, Rich Hall, Sean Walsh, Barry Cryer and Ken Dodd and more.

Eye-popping dance includes: The Russian State Ballet with Don Quixote, Giselle and Swan Lake; Balletboyz – The Talent (ten of the most exceptional dancers in the country) are taking to the stage; and the prestigious Birmingham Royal Ballet are returning with A Mixed Bill (containing three separate pieces).

There is also lots of drama for theatre-goers. Ladies in Retirement staring Katy Manning and Shirley Anne Field will be on stage as will Sherlock Homes, the farcical Who’s Who! the spooky Devil at Midnight and a completely new show Faulty Towers – The Dining Experience for audiences to dine to a drama! Other plays include Entertaining Mr Sloan and Rising Damp.
