The cast of the Beauty and the Beast panto on at the Pomegranate Theatre in Chesterfield made a special visit to see children at the Nightingale Ward at the town’s Royal Hospital on Friday.

Stars  Tina Barrett (Beauty), Jon Moses (Beast and Count), Danny Mills (Madame Fifi), Sarah Whitlock (Witch Hazel), Titus Rowe (Gaston), Rick Gaynor (Pierre) and Maurice Thorogood (Professor Crackpot), created mischief and havoc within the childrens’ ward giving out early Christmas presents.

Tina, who is a former S Club 7 start, said: “It was just such an amazing experience meeting all the children and giving presents. They were all really happy and excited and everyone had an amazing day.”

Jenny Reaney who is a play specialist and team leader at the hospital said: “They were absolutely fantastic and it really helped to lift the spirits of our young patients, some of whom had seen the cast in the panto before they came in, or are going to see them shortly.

“The fact that they stayed for so long, talked to the patients, made them laugh and handed out presents was more than we could have wished for and everybody enjoyed it, even the members of staff who didn’t miss the opportunity for a photo and autograph.”

There’s still time to catch the cast in the Beauty and the Beast Pantomime which will be at the Pomegranate Theatre until Sunday January 5. To book tickets call 01246 345 222 or visit http://www.chesterfieldtheatres.co.uk.
