Saraswati Mist and Light exhibition opens

posterSaraswati Mist and Light is an exhibition now being staged at the Lally Gallery in Ilkeston by photographer Howard Johnson.

The three young women pictured were the inspiration for the new work when they approached him asking if he would take their portraits.

Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music arts and science.

The women were among the guests at a special Asian themed preview evening at the gallery last night (December 3) and they were thrilled with the results of their modelling and Howie’s work.

The evening was complete with beautiful live music performed by a Sitar player and the chance to have a henna painting on your hand.

Howie’s work is presented under the name Howieography Creative Images and is a mixture of photography and digital photo art.

Visitors should be prepared to by mystified and taken on a journey of light says Howie. His colourful pictures are certainly intriguing and reveal what can be achieved by an artist skilled in manipulating images and with an eye for detail.

The Lally Gallery is at the Erewash Museum and the exhibition is being staged until January 25 and is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-4pm.
