Buxton Opera House is offering a feast of festive entertainment this December.
The sounds of Miller, Basie, Dorsey and Hefti alongside other yuletide favourites will fill the venue, as Chris Dean’s Syd Lawrence Orchestra swings into play on Sunday December 1.
The Buxton Musical Society’s sparkling carol concert on Sunday December 8 is always popular with audiences who can enjoy singing along to a selection of carols and Christmas songs.
Folk-rock pioneers Steeleye Span, fronted by Maddy Prior, are back in town with their special Christmas show on Monday December 16; and don’t miss Christmas Crooners on Thursday December 19, featuring the hits of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Ol’ Blue Eyes himself Frank Sinatra. The show boasts a talented cast of West End singers and a twinkling set – complete with a Christmas tree and a glowing fire place.
Prepare to be enchanted when the pantomime Cinderella begins on Thursday December 12. With hilarious comedy, catchy songs and colourful dance routines, this is one show the whole family would not miss. It is on until January 1.
The fantastic 44-piece British Philharmonic Orchestra is set to bring the year to a close on Tuesday December 31 with a New Year’s Eve Gala Concert full of opera, ballet, film, TV and musical favourites. Revellers can make a full night of entertainment by joining other guests for a three-course pre-concert dinner in the magnificent Octagon.
