Girls chosen for panto dance troupe

3The casting of the juvenile troupe of dancers for this year’s pantomime at Buxton Opera House, Cinderella, is now complete.

Those chosen to dance on the Opera House stage, celebrated their success with a group picture in Buxton Community School’s Gothic Hall, where they have been rehearsing.

In total 20 girls have been chosen to perform on alternate dates of Cinderella which runs from Thursday December 12 to Wednesday  January 1.

The girls will star alongside two well-known TV celebrities during the show: Sarah Thomas – best known for her long-running role in Last of the Summer Wine – will play Cinderella’s magical Fairy Godmother; and the children’s favourite this year Jonny Freeman – who plays a leading role in the popular CBBC Sci-fi adventure series, M.I. High–  will take the comedy role of Buttons.

Writer and director Philip Dart, who promises a memorable show, said: “Cinderella is one of the nation’s best-loved stories and the production will build on all the magical elements that children love whilst ensuring there is plenty of humour to keep the mums and dads entertained.”
