It promises to be a visual feast, on a spectacular scale once again this year.
During the weekend of September 27 and 28, you will be able to experience and enjoy a wide range of fun and spellbinding performances including the main attraction on the Friday evening, As The World Tipped by Wired Aerial Theatre.
Appearing on Bass’ Recreation Ground at 8pm, this eye-catching and explosive aerial show tells a powerful tale of ecological crisis in a real-life disaster movie in the sky, on a precariously moving screen and platform.
Following the performance, junk percussion duo Bang On! will lead the audience back to the Market Place where local musical acts will perform in front of a special light installation.
On Saturday the streets will come alive from noon with entertainers including: C12 presenting Trolleys, a fun new ballet performed with five supermarket trolleys; Upswing, a truly unique circus skills act which promises to turn your world upside down; Dutch group Close Act, a company of stilt walkers, dancers, musicians, fire throwers and acrobats with their surreal White Wings; Company Chameleon, a dance theatre company; the return of award-winning Flame Oz with a mesmerising fire show; and Whalley Range All Stars’ Imaginary Friends, life-size puppets who will lead audiences on a singing, theatrical journey.
Making another welcome return for this year will be the popular Splash Stage where local acts, from a wide range of live performance styles, will appear in the Market Place, in front of The Waterfall and outside the Book Café.
On Cathedral Green at 7.30pm DJ Yoda – declared by Q Magazine as “one of the ten DJs to see before you die” – will present his Music and Cinema experience. Part DJ set, part movie and part comedy show, DJ Yoda mixes music of all genres to create a truly unique audio-visual experience for all the family.
This will be followed by a Market Place Bollywood themed Festé party created and curated by Charity Shop DJ with Surtal Arts. You can read more about Charity Shop DJ if you check out the features section above.
