The Cherry Orchard gallery was first opened in Belper by artists Kelly Nixon and Suzanne Parnell in King Street in May but since then the couple have found the perfect location in the Market Place so they have upped sticks and moved.
The Cherry Orchard will house work by local artists and crafters as well as some by nationally-known TV artist Peter Woolley.
The couple behind the gallery are both members of the new Belper Arts Collaborative and they originally opened the gallery in tandem with the Belper Arts Festival but this weekend they are having an open weekend to coincide with the town’s Food Festival on Sunday.
“Belper has an ever-increasing arts scene and we felt the town could support a gallery which would showcase the work of the artists in the area,” said Suzanne.
“We are very lucky to have found such a fantastic location on the Market Place next to the Cross Keys pub and we are having the official opening on Saturday July 13 when there will be some light refreshments and Peter Woolley will be in the gallery in the morning to talk to people,” said Suzanne.
