Auditions for panto chorus on Sunday

ARTSBEAT PANTO: The producers of the Buxton Opera House pantomime will be looking out for dance stars of the future when they hold chorus auditions for “Cinderella” on Sunday  June 9.

In recent years the chorus has become a popular feature of Buxton’s highly acclaimed pantomime and there is always strong competition for places. This year the theatre promises a truly magical production of “Cinderella”, which will open on December 12 and run until January 1 2014.  Sally Brooks, who has worked on a number of London musicals, will once again act as choreographer.

The auditions, which will be held at the Pavilion Arts Centre in Buxton between 3pm and 6pm on 9th June, are open to young dancers with excellent technical ability, who are between the ages of nine and 15 and over 4′ 8″ in height.

Applicants must be available over the weekend of October 18-20 and should be prepared to take part in intensive rehearsals between November 18 and December 12.  Prior to the first performance the chorus will be split into two teams and these teams will share performances until the show closes on 1st January.  A nominal fee will be payable for each public performance as a contribution towards expenses.

All those applying will need to register, so please telephone Lizzie Whitehouse at Buxton Opera House on 01298 72050 as soon as possible to request an application form.
