ARTSBEAT PRIZES: Artsbeat has teamed up with Buxton Festival to offer you a pair of tickets to two of the most popular events for 2013 – the Opera Double Bill and a talk by TV favourite Julia Bradbury.
The winner of the tickets to see Julia will also receive a signed copy of her latest book about her Coast to Coast adventure.
The winner of the first prize will be able to see the Festival Double-Bill which consists of two light, brisk confections which sparkle with all the wit and romance of 19th century France.
Saint-Saëns’ La Princesse Jaune is a satire on the 19th century fad for all things Japanese. Gounod’s La colombe is an opera comique based on the poem La Faucon by Jean de la Fontaine. There will be a pre-opera talk at 6.15pm in the Pavilion Arts Centre before each evening performance.
The Double Bill is being staged on July 5, 8, 11, 14 and 20 at 7.15pm apart from the 14 when it will be at 3.30pm.
One of TV’s most popular presenters, Julia Bradbury fronted Wainwright Walks, following in the footsteps of legendary fell-walker Alfred Wainwright – and in the talk Coast to Coast she shares her experiences with the audience.
Julia’s new book collects together all six stages of the walk from the series, with Julia’s commentary accompanied by stills, evocative landscape photography and AW’s celebrated line drawings. Julia’s talk as part of the festival will be at 10.30am on July 17 at the Pavilion Arts Centre.
To be in with a chance of winning one of the two prizes send the answer to the following question with your name and telephone number to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to Festival Competition Artsbeat, 19 Nottingham Road, Belper, DE56 1JG. The closing date is May 31.
