Northern Soul arrives at Pavilion Gardens

Wigan%20cloth%20logoARTSBEAT MUSIC: The Octagon, at The Pavilion Gardens Buxton will be transformed into a Northern Soul club, reminiscent of the Wigan Casino, The Torch and The Twisted Wheel, when The Fifth Buxton Soul Night takes place onFriday 22 March from 8pm till 1am.

Audiences can enjoy a Friday night boogie whilst the vinyl spins – taking audiences on a musical journey with six outstanding DJs: Ian Gee, Pete Eccles, Sean Chapman, Nige Brown and Daz Dakin.

With a large dance floor and bar until 1am, party goers can experience (or have a go) stomping, spinning, flipping and even giving a few backdrops, to a great mix of 100 per cent oldies, rare and not so rare Northern Soul tracks.

The Northern Soul music, dance and fashion movement originally emerged from the British Mod (underground rhythm & soul) scene in the late 1960s, but by the early 70s northern soul dancing became more athletic, resembling the late dance styles of disco and break dancing.

The show begins at 8pm. Tickets for The Fifth Buxton Soul Night are priced at £7. Call the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or buy online at http://www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
