He has been incredibly tenacious in his career forging ahead to create a body of work that is quite remarkable for an artist of independent means.
Ola has written, recorded and produced seven albums on his label Rugged Ram Records with the most recent Seven Shades Darker.
The emotionally charged live performances and impactive shows have taken Ola and his band to some of the most prestigious festival stages, concert halls and jazz clubs as well as many different tours in the UK.
In Germany, Ola has collaborated with The WDR Big Band in Cologne Philharmonie, The Babelsberg Film Orchestra in Nikolaisaal Potsdam and most recently with The SWR Big Band at the Jazzfest Aalen with arrangements of his beautifully crafted songs.
The singer’s voice is unmistakably gentle and wistful, haunting and heartbreaking, very special and unique. His music is reminiscent of the great soul and jazz artists of the 1960s and 70s, whose music was able to change the course of history because it changed perceptions and opened minds.
After sharing the stage with some of the world’s finest soul and jazz artistes; Al Jarreau, Dianne Reeves, Joe Zawinul, Roberta Flack, Natalie Cole, Roy Hargrove, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle he will now perform at Derby LIVE’s Guildhall Theatre on February 22, at 8pm.
