ARTSBEAT FILM: There is a chance to see a screening of The Rosas Trilogy at QUAD, in Derby, this month, a part of which is the final film resulting from QUAD’s Derby Soap Opera project.
Derby Soap Opera was a mass participation community-centered film workshops and film project commissioned by QUAD and led by artist and film maker Marinella Senatore which took place in QUAD and in locations around Derby from February to July 2012.
The project involved 15,000 Derby residents, encompassing 30 creative workshops. The result was a 36 minute film work titled ‘Rosas II: The Attic’ which premiered to an audience of over 700 people at the Assembly Rooms as part of Derby Féste in September 2012. The film was part of an interlinked international trilogy which also took place in Berlin and Barcelona.
The Rosas Trilogy includes Part 1: Berlin; Part 2: Derby and Part 3: Barcelona. Each film is approximately 35 minutes in duration and following the three films there will be a short Q&A with Marinella Senatore and QUAD Curator Peter Bonnell.
