Titled Now… and Other Points in Time, the exhibition at the Draycott gallery explores the thread of time, its concept, effects and implications.
There are collagraph, carborundum and screen prints from Lesley Warrington, and interactive sculpture and wall based work from Lorraine Clewlow.
The couple are working together for the first time and held a celebration Meet The Artists session yesterday (Sunday January 13).
Lorraine says her work wanders between expression and catharsis yet retains a sense of positivity.
“It is born from my own experiences and inner emotions mixed with observations of the world around me. I choose materials which are deeply symbolic and use this to infer references and associations,” she said.
Lesley says her collagraph, mono print, carborundum and screen prints are a personal exploration of how time can change the perceived significance of events, relationships and objects.
“Each piece of work has its own narrative and at its source, asks us to pause and ponder what our own mark on time will be,” she explained.
“I am fascinated by hand written letters and postcards as these are now rapidly becoming things of the past. As a result, some of my work includes the written word within the context of time and considers its legacy in a world now dominated by text and email.”
The duo’s work perfectly complements the gallery space at The Beetroot Tree and includes interesting juxtaposition of concepts. If you get a chance to go along then don’t miss it.
