Still places on sketch book workshop

Peak District artist Ingrid Karlsson-Kemp is staging a half day workshop focussing on how to use a sketch book and “make it your best friend and companion” on Saturday.

Those taking part will be experimenting, recording and developing ideas, which will then be taken into a larger piece outside of the sketch book. The theme will be Advent in keeping with the festive season which is already upon us.

The workshop is taking place at Ingrid’s Moorland Studio, in Earl Sterndale, near Buxton, from 10am to 1pm and materials, equipment and light refreshments are included in the £40 fee.

Mostly inspired by storytelling, Ingrid’s work combines the magical scenery and ever-changing seasonal colours around her studio in Upper Dovedale. She utilises an approach that creates rich, colourful textures developed from recycled paper-based materials, or stitched in fabric and fibre. Some of her favoured techniques include collage, mono-printing and crystalline water colour enhancing the work with a luminous quality.

She is one of the resident artists at the Gallery in the Gardens at Buxton’s refurbished Pavilions and is also a member of the prestigious Peak District Artisans exhibiting at the award-winning annual Great Dome Art Fair, part of the Buxton Festival Fringe.
