The event, which is to be officially opened at 5pm on November 23 by the Mayor of Derby, Lisa Higginbottom, and all of the work on show is for sale.
There will also be an array of creative business services exhibiting and a chance for visitors to see firsthand the amazing studio spaces available at Banks Mill.
Banks Mill is one of four Evolve incubator units run by the University of Derby and exists to support the development of new companies in the creative industries, offering studio space to upcoming businesses.
Laura Williams, incubation manager, said: “The Open Studios event has been running for over a decade and has grown to become a massive success. Last year we had around 1,400 visitors come along to the three day event which celebrates creative talent and also showcases the Mill’s extraordinary studio spaces, and this year we hope for even more.
“We are delighted that the Mayor will be opening the event for us and that she will get the chance to see the fantastic talent that exists in Banks Mill.”
The event begins on Friday November 23 and runs between 5 – 8pm. Guests will be invited to listen to live music, meet with artists and relax with a glass of wine. The weekend events taking place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 between 10-4pm will be more family orientated, with children’s activities including free face painting, and goodie bags.
Some of the artists at the event will be: Louise West – Handmade Bobbin Lacemaker and Silver Jewellery, Heather Horsley – Illustration, Lyra Morgan – Contemporary Artist, Jayne Woodbridge – Handmade Accessories and Ceramicist, April Shepherd – Fine Art and Ruth Gray – Fine Art.
