Extra night for Derby Folk Festival

The organisers of the 2012 Derby Folk Festival want to top last year’s huge success of an event and have added an additional concert on Sunday evening.

The sixth festival of concerts, workshops, ceilidhs and sessions kicks off at the Assembly Rooms in Derby tonight with young sensation Blair Dunlop, and headline sets from Martin Simpson and Jamie Smith’s Mabon.

The festival continues throughout a packed Saturday culminating in what is expected to be a rousing set from the  Peatbog Faeries.

Sunday’s early evening extra show is from Seth Lakeman and his Band.

Over the weekend several dance teams are lined up to dance inside the Assembly Rooms complex, as well as outside on the Market Square and there are plenty of workshops to choose from.
